Katz: The major challenge will be destroying all Gaza tunnels

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said in a post on his X account on Sunday morning that the “biggest challenge” facing Israel after the expected release of prisoners is the destruction of all Hamas tunnels inside the Gaza Strip.

Katz said the central importance of implementing the agreement lies in how Gaza will be disarmed and the movement’s military capabilities neutralized, noting that this would be carried out through a proposed “international mechanism” to be established under U.S. leadership and supervision.

He added that the success of this mechanism would be a decisive factor in ensuring the implementation of the agreement’s provisions and in achieving security in the region.
