Trump: Today is a historic dawn for a new Middle East

U.S. President Donald Trump said in the Israeli Knesset this afternoon, Monday 13/10/2025, that this day marks the dawn of a historic new Middle East and the end of an era of terrorism and death

In a speech before the Israeli Knesset, Trump said:

We meet on a day of joy and a day of hope, on a day of renewed faith, and with thanks to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
After two very difficult years of darkness and captivity, 20 hostages have returned to the arms of their families, and 28 loved ones will be returned to their final resting places.
After years of continuous wars the skies are clear, the guns are silent, and the Holy Land is a land of peace; this region will live in peace forever.
This is not only the end of a war but the end of an era of terror and death, and the beginning of an era of faith and hope, the beginning of a new harmony between Israel and all the countries that will soon become a great region.
It is a historic dawn for a new Middle East.
I express my appreciation and gratitude to all Arab and Muslim countries that united to pressure Hamas to release the hostages. It is an astonishing victory for Israel and the world when we cooperate as partners for peace. It is an extraordinary and remarkable moment in our history.
This is the golden age of Israel and the Middle East.
 I chose Steve Witkoff because I know he is an excellent businessman with great negotiating skills. He is a wonderful person whom everyone likes.
 We have 7,000 being killed every week in the Ukrainian war.. I expected ending the Ukrainian war to be easy and arranged for Witkoff to meet with President Putin, and I expected the meeting to last 15 minutes. I called him after 30 minutes and they told me he was still inside.
The meeting between Putin and Witkoff lasted five hours and they discussed many matters. Witkoff has a real talent for negotiation.
My relationship with Jared Kushner is extremely important — he achieved a very significant accomplishment and brought us to the Abraham Accords.
 I expect history will remember Marco Rubio as the greatest Secretary of State in the history of the United States.
We won decisively in World War I and II, and in all the wars that took place before and between them, and yet they decided to change the name of the ministry from the Department of War to the Department of Defense.
We finished eight wars in eight months and I will add this war to the list if you agree… Yesterday there were seven wars, today there are eight… the hostages returned.
When we end eight wars in eight months, that means I don’t like wars… In fact my personality favors ending wars, and changing the name of the ministry reflects that we will not wage wars in a polite manner..
Peace through strength.. The United States has the strongest military in the world and we hope we will not have to use our weapons; their power is enormous and that is a bad thing.
Many of these weapons, frankly, we provided to Israel.. Netanyahu called me repeatedly asking for all sorts of weapons, and you used them well.
The brutality of October 7 struck humanity to the core.
I tell the people of Israel that the United States joins you in these two pledges: that we will not forget and we will not allow October 7 to be repeated.
Today the sun rises on a region that is being completely transformed, awaiting a brighter future for Israel and the entire Middle East.
