Israeli forces launched a series of raids at dawn on Wednesday in various towns and villages in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, amid continued searches of homes belonging to families of recently released Palestinian prisoners following the release of hundreds of detainees on Monday under a deal to end the war in Gaza.
Photos posted on social media showed Israeli vehicles around the Palestinian Legislative Council in central Ramallah.
Meanwhile, forces raided the Qaddura and Al-Am’ari camps and carried out searches of a number of homes, including those of released prisoners.
Israeli forces arrested four Palestinians from the Bethlehem governorate — Mustafa Mousa Nawaura, Muhammad Raed Zawahra, Raed Abdel Karim al-Madhbouh, and Zakaria Jamal Oweida — after searching their homes, the Prisoners’ Club said.
The forces also raided the town of Beitunia, the village of Arura and the Dheisheh camp in Bethlehem, Tubas and Tammun in the northern West Bank, and Beit Ummar north of Hebron, using flashbangs in some areas.
Israeli forces recently released 1,968 Palestinian prisoners under the “Tufan al-Ahrar” deal, including 250 serving life sentences and long terms, and 1,718 prisoners from the Gaza Strip who were arrested during the war, while dozens of the released prisoners were deported to Egypt.
