British journalist Owen Jones says Israel tortured Palestinian prisoners to death amid Western media complicity

British journalist and writer Owen Jones accused Israeli occupation authorities of committing horrific acts of torture against Palestinian detainees, saying the abuse reached the point of killing people under torture and asserting that Israel did not even try to conceal its crimes, confident that Western media would ignore them.

Jones said what Palestinian prisoners endured — “brutal and sadistic torture” — amounts to a documented crime, but that Western media silence regarding these violations constitutes a “serious moral complicity” that helps perpetuate them.

Owen Jones is one of the most prominent progressive voices in British journalism, known for backing just causes, including the Palestinian cause. He has previously taken part in solidarity demonstrations for Gaza and has repeatedly condemned alleged Israeli crimes against civilians.
