Euro-Med Monitor: Aid to Gaza falls short of minimum, warns against using humanitarian needs as a tool for extortion

Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor expressed deep concern over the limited quantities of goods and aid allowed into the Gaza Strip, saying they amount to only a tiny fraction of the population’s real needs amid an ongoing humanitarian catastrophe.

The monitor warned of the seriousness of Israeli threats to reduce humanitarian assistance or close the Rafah crossing on the pretext of not handing over the bodies of Israeli dead, calling such actions incompatible with humanitarian principles and an unacceptable form of extortion against civilians.

It urged the international community to intervene urgently to ensure the unconditioned flow of aid and to uphold international humanitarian law, which forbids using basic needs as a weapon in conflicts.
