Gaza City water pumps stop working amid Israeli incursion

The Gaza Municipality confirmed on Saturday, October 18, 2025, that the city’s eight pumps have stopped completely or partially due to the recent Israeli incursion.

The Gaza Municipality said in a statement to Al-Araby TV that the sewage networks were largely destroyed, causing large volumes of wastewater to leak into the city.

It said, “We are facing an environmental disaster due to the leakage of sewage and its mixing with groundwater,” adding, “We are at risk of sea contamination and of sewage mixing with drinking-water reservoirs.”

It called for maintenance equipment and power generators to be brought in to repair water facilities.
