International Criminal Court rejects Israel’s appeal against arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant

Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

The International Criminal Court in The Hague rejected Israel’s request to appeal the arrest warrants issued against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister Gallant, saying the warrants will remain in effect. The decision came after reviewing Israel’s arguments, which the court described as “repetitive” and not affecting the court’s jurisdiction to pursue cases related to the alleged violations.

The court said the rejection of the appeal reflects its commitment to the principle of accountability and to preventing impunity, and that the warrants are intended to investigate Israeli officials over allegations of crimes under international law. The decision is expected to increase international pressure on Israel and bolster the ICC’s role in pursuing alleged violations against Palestinians, amid ongoing political and legal controversy on the international stage.
