Israeli occupation authorities on Wednesday issued two military orders seizing areas of private land in Qalqilya governorate for colonial and expansion projects.
Munif Nazzal, the official in charge of the wall and settlement file in Qalqilya governorate, told the WAFA news agency that the authorities issued an order to seize 3 dunams and 712 square meters of land in the town of Azzun east of Qalqilya to cut a settler road linking the Alfei Menashe settlement to the Qalqilya–Nablus road known as Route 55 near the Eliahu checkpoint erected behind the separation barrier.
He added that the second military order calls for the seizure of some 21 dunams and 307 square meters of land from the towns of Azzun and Jayyus in order to erect a so‑called “security wall” around the Tzufim settlement.
It is worth noting that the Alfei Menashe and Tzufim settlements were established on land belonging to the towns of Azzun, Jayyus and Kafr Thulth, and continue to expand at the expense of citizens’ agricultural lands, posing a direct threat to the livelihoods of dozens of families who rely on farming as their main source of income.
