A senior U.S. adviser told Reuters that the United States intends to launch a “rewards program” for those who provide information or assist in finding the bodies of Israeli captives in the Gaza Strip.
The official said Washington is “doing everything it can to recover as many remains as possible,” adding: “No one will be left behind.”
In a related development, the U.S. adviser said reconstruction funds would not be invested in areas controlled by Hamas, noting that an “international stabilization force” is beginning to take shape and that several countries, including Indonesia, have expressed a desire to participate.
He added that intensive talks are underway with Egypt and Qatar to ensure coordination of efforts and the flow of humanitarian aid into the Strip, describing these talks as “very positive.”
He also stressed that “no one will be forced to leave Gaza,” noting that the idea of establishing safe zones in Gaza came in response to reports of executions carried out by Hamas, and that the proposal has received broad support from Israel.
