The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said on Saturday, October 18, 2025, that more than 8,000 of its teachers in the Gaza Strip are ready to help children return to learning and resume their education.
UNRWA said in a statement posted on its X page that it is the largest humanitarian organization operating in the Gaza Strip and must be allowed to carry out its duties without impediment.
It added that “the children of Gaza have been deprived of education for far too long,” stressing the need to enable them to return to their schools as soon as possible.
Students in the Gaza Strip have been out of school for nearly two years because of the war launched by the Israeli army, which has destroyed most Gaza schools completely or partially and killed hundreds of teachers and thousands of students.
