Witkoff to visit region on Sunday to monitor implementation of Gaza agreement

Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

The Axios website, citing a U.S. official, said U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff expects to travel to the Middle East next Sunday to follow up on implementation of an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip. The source said Witkoff will visit Egypt and Israel and is likely to visit the Gaza Strip.

The site also quoted an Israeli official saying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told U.S. President Donald Trump that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) “is lying” and asked mediators to pressure it to return more bodies of Israeli captives.

The source added that Trump told Netanyahu he was aware of delays in delivering the captives’ bodies and is working to resolve that, and the Israeli official claimed that “Hamas chose not to hand over bodies that can be handed over and is thereby creating a crisis.”
