Israeli bombing targets a power station in Sana'a
Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

Yemeni media reported that an Israeli airstrike targeted the Haiz power plant in Sanhan district, south of Sana'a, early Sunday morning, causing extensive damage and putting generators out of service.
In turn, Israeli Channel 12 reported that the Israeli Navy launched attacks this morning on specific targets in Yemen, as part of the military operations Israel is carrying out outside its borders.
The attack came about two months after a similar operation targeting the port of Hodeidah, marking the second Israeli naval attack on targets in Yemen since the beginning of the war, with advanced missile boats used to carry out the strikes.
Two explosions were heard in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, at dawn on Sunday, with local media reporting that Israeli aircraft launched airstrikes on the Haziz power station south of the city.
Reuters quoted eyewitnesses as saying they heard at least two explosions near the station, while a member of the political bureau of the Ansar Allah group (Houthis), Hazam al-Assad, commented on the X platform, saying, “The enemy is criminal and bankrupt, targeting only service facilities and civilian objects: electricity, water…”
For its part, the Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah channel quoted a civil defense source as saying: “An aggression targeted the Haiz power plant in the Sanhan district, south of the capital, Sana’a,” noting that “the teams worked to extinguish the fire resulting from the targeting of the Haiz power plant.”
The source indicated that "the aggression targeted the electricity generators at the Haiz station, causing them to go out of service."
The channel quoted the director general of the Houthi-run Electricity Corporation, Mishaal Al-Rifai, as saying, "We are working to assess the damage caused by the aggression on the Haiz power station, south of the capital, Sana'a, in cooperation with the Civil Defense."
The occupation army: We attacked Houthi targets deep inside Yemen.
"The Israeli military attacked energy infrastructure used by the Houthi regime in the Sana'a area, approximately 2,000 kilometers from the Israeli coast," an Israeli military spokesperson said in a statement, as part of its operations to counter the Houthi regime's repeated threats.
These attacks come "in response to the Houthis' launching of surface-to-surface missiles and drones toward Israel, as well as their exploitation of maritime space to engage in military activity that threatens global transportation and trade, under Iranian guidance," according to an Israeli military spokesman.
Last Thursday morning, the Houthi group announced the launch of a major missile attack targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, confirming the use of a hypersonic missile it called "Palestine 2."
In a video statement broadcast by Al Masirah TV, the group's military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said that the operation targeted "Lod Airport with a hypersonic ballistic missile," adding that it "successfully achieved its goal, leading to millions of Zionists fleeing to shelters and the suspension of airport operations."
The group also stressed that it will continue to escalate its military operations against Israel until the aggression on the Gaza Strip stops and the siege imposed on it is lifted.
Since July 2024, Israel has continued to launch airstrikes on Yemen, targeting vital facilities, including the port of Hodeidah and Sana'a International Airport. Meanwhile, the Houthi group has responded with missile and drone attacks against Israel and against ships linked to or bound for Israel, in support of Gaza.
This escalation comes amid the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, which has so far left more than 61,897 martyrs and 155,660 wounded, most of them children and women. In addition, there are more than 9,000 missing persons and hundreds of thousands displaced, amid a famine that has claimed the lives of 251 people, including 108 children.
