Does face yoga treat sagging skin?

Cosmetic treatments, both medical and surgical, offer numerous solutions to combat the signs of skin aging. Alternatives are also diverse, including facial yoga, a trending video trending on social media. It promises to combat fine lines and wrinkles, but how effective is it in treating sagging skin?
Facial yoga aims to strengthen the skin's muscles through a series of exercises recommended for regular practice for 20 to 30 minutes, several days a week, for two or three months before you start to notice the desired results.
These exercises improve muscle strength, giving the face a firmer appearance. However, there is an important point about facial exercises that dermatologists are keen to clarify.
They emphasize in this area that sagging skin typically results from damage to collagen and elastin fibers, in addition to the melting of fatty deposits and the relaxation of deep ligaments. This means that the effect of facial yoga remains limited and superficial, as these exercises do not address the primary causes of sagging.

There are no studies yet proving the profound structural effects of facial yoga on the dermis or skin's supporting tissues, and the results of this treatment vary depending on skin quality, age, and consistency in practicing the exercises.
Young skin can significantly benefit from the protective effects of yoga exercises, while mature, sagging skin cannot rely on these exercises alone. Rather, they must be combined with medical or surgical procedures that address the underlying causes of sagging.
Yoga exercises are a complementary treatment for combating sagging skin. Experts point out that this practice is not entirely risk-free. Some movements can have the opposite effect if performed poorly or excessively, leading to the appearance of wrinkles and worsening sagging skin.
The repeated stretching and exaggerated facial expressions resulting from these exercises cause hypermobility in certain areas, which increases expression lines.
Repeatedly stretching the delicate skin of the cheeks and performing eyebrow frowning exercises can, over the long term, increase the signs of aging. These uncontrolled movements can weaken skin tissue, especially if it has lost its vitality.
Dermatologists point out that facial yoga exercises are not equivalent to cosmetic medical procedures that target sagging, most notably radiofrequency therapy, fractional laser, or even biostimulating injections that have a skin-revitalizing effect.
Prevention remains the most effective strategy to support facial yoga in combating sagging. Always use sunscreen every day, year-round, as ultraviolet rays accelerate the damage of collagen fibers.
This is in addition to adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes a balanced diet, regular physical activity, getting enough sleep, not smoking, and moisturizing the skin daily to maintain its elasticity. All of this aims to protect the skin from oxidative stress, which is responsible for premature aging.
