Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir announced that the army will "soon begin a new phase of Operation Gideon Vehicles," in which it will intensify its targeting of Hamas in Gaza City.

Zamir said that the operation "achieved its goals, and Hamas today does not possess the capabilities it had before."

He added, "Today we will approve the plan for the next phase of the war."

For its part, Hamas affirmed on Sunday that Israel's new plans to transfer residents represent "a new wave of brutal genocide and criminal displacement of hundreds of thousands of Gaza City residents and internally displaced persons."

Hamas added that "talk about bringing tents into the southern Gaza Strip under the guise of humanitarian arrangements is blatant misinformation."

"The steps and attempts by… Netanyahu and his government to displace our people and uproot them from their land are accompanied by the explicit revelation of his true intentions to establish what is called Greater Israel," she continued in a statement.

Last Tuesday evening, Netanyahu said in an interview with the Hebrew channel i24 that he was “deeply attached to the vision of Greater Israel,” in response to a question about whether he felt he was “on a mission on behalf of the Jewish people.”

According to Israeli claims, "Greater Israel" includes the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to Jordan, Lebanon, and parts of Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. The Torah and Land Institute promotes on its website that the borders of "historical Israel," according to its claims, extend from the Euphrates River to the Nile River.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and injuries, most of them children and women.
