Denmark: Recognition of Palestine Is Only a Matter of Time

Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen confirmed that the recognition of a Palestinian state is now considered a “matter of time”. In a press statement, Rasmussen stated, “We all want it to be recognized.”
He indicated that Denmark will send a Hercules military aircraft to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
He emphasized that this method “is not ideal for delivering emergency supplies”, but is an “extraordinary measure imposed by circumstances.”
The Danish Foreign Minister’s comments come days after Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as having become “a problem for Israel and for international efforts to find a diplomatic solution to the war in Gaza.”
In earlier statements, Frederiksen indicated that Copenhagen is considering measures including “political pressure and sanctions”, targeting “settlers, ministers, or even Israel as a whole”, in efforts to halt the ongoing conflict that began on October 7, 2023.
