Ahmad was known for his love and creativity, his excellence in work, and his bravery in reporting the truth and covering the ongoing genocide war on Gaza, defying all conditions and hardships.
Got Married Amid Shelling… Unaware of Joy
In a scene that embodies resilience, Ahmad married months before his martyrdom amid shelling, as if extracting joy from the claws of war, smiling at his fiancée as if to say "War will not steal our dreams". However, fate did not allow him to wear his wedding ring, and Ahmad was martyred before reaching that moment, leaving behind the image of his wedding day—when happiness was like a seed planted in a burned land, hoping it would someday grow.
His Family Shares Part of His Journey
He was a obedient son and brother, pious, virtuous, compassionate, and ambitious. He waited for the war to end before marrying his fiancée.
His elder brother, Abu Ibrahim, said:
My little brother Ahmad was physically smaller, but he was wiser than all of us. We knew God blessed us with Ahmad as a special gift; he gave others strength derived from his faith, not from false heroics.
An Unforgettable Colleague’s Memory
One of his colleagues said about him: He was quiet.. in everything—his voice, his gaze, even his steps, which moved so quietly as if they didn’t want to disturb the earth, he never raised his voice, nor asked for anything for himself.
He added:
I worked with him for about three years, and I knew nothing about him except that he was an example of morals, tranquility, committed to his faith and homeland.
Farewell to the Moon of Journalism
Ahmad was martyred on July 10, 2025, after being targeted by a drone while in his home garden in the Sawaia area southwest of Nuseirat refugee camp. His story has become a testament to a time when journalists are targeted and killed for telling the truth.
That was Ahmad—an oil lamp extinguished in his body, but his words’ light still illuminates the path of truth. He left us holding his pen as if holding his homeland’s hand. We are left alone in a time when a journalist’s pen weighs more than mountains and his voice more dangerous than aircraft.
