Israeli military and Shin Bet find body of Israeli prisoner Ilan Weiss

The Israeli military announced today that it found the body of an Israeli captive named Ilan Weiss.

The army said the operation was carried out jointly with the Shin Bet in the Gaza Strip, and that the body of Weiss, who had been held by Hamas, was returned to Israel.

In a statement, the military said the operation also recovered personal items linked to another abductee who was killed, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, and that the operation’s success was due to precise intelligence.

Weiss, 55, from Kibbutz Be’eri, was abducted and killed at his home during Hamas’s attack on 7 October 2023. His wife and daughter were released as part of a swap deal in November of that year.
