Protesters spray red paint on New York Times publisher’s home over Gaza war coverage

Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

Pro-Palestinian protesters sprayed red paint on the home of The New York Times’ chief executive in New York City, in protest at what they said was bias in the paper’s coverage of the war in Gaza.

According to police, red paint was found on walls, steps and light fixtures at the entrance of the luxury residential building where chief executive Joseph Kahn lives.

Activists also wrote “Joseph Kahn is lying, Gaza is dying” on the sidewalk in front of the home’s front door.

Police sources said this incident was not the first of its kind, with protesters having targeted Kahn’s home several times over The New York Times’ coverage of the conflict.

The protest comes amid a series of demonstrations that have targeted The New York Times and other cultural institutions in the city, which protesters accuse of taking pro-Israel positions or investing in companies with ties to the Israeli military.

A spokesman for the paper said “vandalism and targeting individuals and their families crosses a red line,” adding that they would work with authorities to address the matter.
