Israeli military says Gazans will only be allowed to move south through checkpoints
Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

The Israeli military will begin allowing displaced residents of Gaza City to travel south only through monitored checkpoints, after it said that starting at 12:00 p.m. (Wednesday) Al‑Rashid Street will be closed to traffic coming from the southern part of the Strip.
The military said movement to the south will remain unrestricted and without inspections at this stage, but stressed that the measure is temporary, paving the way for the next phase, in which north‑to‑south movement will be confined to monitored military checkpoints.
The measures include screening every person leaving Gaza City for the south, ostensibly to protect civilian safety and to prevent fighters from fleeing.
At the same time, three units of the Israeli military are operating simultaneously with the aim of securing additional areas. Israel’s military establishment estimates that, as the operation continues, the number of residents choosing to leave Gaza will increase.
