Islamic Jihad says Hamas’s response to Trump plan reflects unified position of Palestinian resistance factions

Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine said the response given by the Islamic Resistance Movement, “Hamas”, to President Donald Trump’s plan to halt the war in Gaza reflects a collective and unified position of the Palestinian resistance forces, stressing that the decision was the result of responsible national consultations in which various factions took part.

The movement said on Saturday that Hamas’s position represents a comprehensive national vision aimed at protecting the rights of the Palestinian people and national constants, and at engaging seriously with any initiative that stops the Israeli brutal aggression and guarantees that no arrangements will be imposed that affect the unity of Palestinian territories or the right to resist.

Islamic Jihad said it participated actively in the internal consultations that preceded Hamas’s response, considering that response a deliberate political step intended to shift the ball to the court of the occupation and the U.S. administration, after Hamas announced its agreement to the two aspects related to a prisoner-exchange deal and the formation of a Palestinian technocratic government to administer the Gaza Strip.

The movement stressed that any discussion concerning the future of the Gaza Strip or the arms of the resistance must take place within a comprehensive Palestinian national framework and with the participation of all forces and factions, affirming that the resistance will not allow the imposition of degrading solutions or the bypassing of the Palestinian sacrifices made during the war that has continued for more than two years.

It added that Palestinian unity of position at this sensitive stage constitutes the fundamental guarantee for imposing the will of the Palestinian people at the political table, calling for enhanced field and political coordination among the factions in preparation for the next phase of negotiations, which are expected to address details of a ceasefire, prisoner exchanges, and post-war arrangements.
