Buses carrying released Palestinian prisoners arrive in Ramallah and Gaza

Arrival of buses carrying Palestinian prisoners .. Israel released Palestinian prisoners from Ofer prison bound for Ramallah and from Ketziot bound for the Gaza Strip.

The buses carrying the 88 Palestinian prisoners released from Ofer prison arrived in the town of Beitunia, where they will be received at the Ramallah Cultural Palace. The first of 38 buses transporting Palestinian prisoners also reached the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian official bodies and prisoners’ institutions said they received the buses carrying the released prisoners from the International Committee of the Red Cross and are escorting them to the Ramallah Cultural Palace.

According to the first phase of the plan, all living Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip will be released in exchange for Israeli authorities freeing 250 inmates from their prisons who have long sentences and life terms—88 from Ofer west of Ramallah and 162 from Ketziot in the Negev. They will be transferred to the Gaza Strip before most are deported to Egypt, in addition to 1,718 detainees from Gaza arrested after the start of the war on October 7, 2023.
