Israel gives mediators coordinates believed to be burial sites of its dead; Egyptian and Turkish teams to begin searches in Gaza

Tel Aviv has provided mediators with suspected locations of burial sites for its dead inside the Gaza Strip, a move seen as part of international efforts to recover the remains of Israelis held there.
Media reports said Israel declined to confirm a statement by the al-Qassam Brigades claiming it had handed over ‘all’ the bodies of Israeli captives it was able to reach, prompting mediators to coordinate with international parties to intensify field searches.
In this context, Egyptian and Turkish teams are scheduled to operate inside Gaza in the coming days to help locate and recover remains, as part of a joint mission that includes countries and intermediary organizations involved in implementing the ceasefire provisions and exchange agreements. The mission will also include international and regional parties according to arrangements agreed with Israel and the mediators.
Israeli sources quoted security officials as saying that identifying the sites and handing over coordinates could help, but reaching the remains could be difficult and could take weeks given the level of destruction, the presence of debris from buildings and the need for specialized recovery equipment and operations. Analysts also noted that the possibility of misidentification or incorrect burial sites could slow down fieldwork.
These steps come as parties continue to implement the first-phase provisions of the ceasefire and the exchanges of bodies and dummies, amid political pressure to complete identification processes and hand over remains to families. Recovery and search efforts remain a sensitive entry point to the post-truce phase, requiring logistical and security coordination among multiple actors.
