Al-Qahera News channel said on Saturday, citing an informed Egyptian source, that intensive preparations are currently underway in Cairo to discuss field mechanisms for exchanging Palestinian prisoners and detained Israelis, as part of regional moves following Hamas’s announcement that it accepted U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to halt the war in the Gaza Strip.
The source said Egyptian efforts are focused on preparing the necessary security and humanitarian conditions to implement the first phase of the agreement, related to exchange operations, and on preparing for a comprehensive Palestinian dialogue aimed at discussing Gaza’s future and arrangements after a ceasefire.
The source added that Cairo is coordinating with regional and international mediators to ensure these talks begin in a positive atmosphere that allows for tangible progress toward a lasting calm, opens the way for reconstruction and for Palestinian unity.
This comes hours after Hamas confirmed its agreement to two key parts of Trump’s plan, which include a prisoner exchange deal and handing over Gaza’s administration to a Palestinian technocratic government, while stressing that issues related to the territory’s future and the rights of the Palestinian people will be discussed within a comprehensive national dialogue involving all Palestinian factions.
