Commission of Detainees Affairs and Prisoners’ Club: law to execute prisoners entrenches policy of repression and killing

The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority and the Prisoners’ Club said the occupation’s ratification of a law authorizing the execution of prisoners represents an additional step in entrenching a systematic crime it has practised against Palestinian detainees for decades, in an attempt to provide a legal and legitimate cover for these violations.

The two institutions added in a joint statement that this step comes amid an unprecedented escalation across the Palestinian territories, particularly since the start of the ongoing campaign of extermination against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The statement said the new law reflects the occupation’s policy of consolidating systematic repression and grave violations, and poses a real danger that opens the door to committing further crimes against prisoners under a “legal” guise, in blatant violation of international and humanitarian laws.
