Egypt: Trump’s Gaza plan riddled with loopholes, needs deeper discussion

Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

Egypt’s foreign minister said the plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war in Gaza still requires further discussion, especially regarding governance and security inside the Gaza Strip.

He added that “the American plan contains many gaps that must be filled before moving forward with its implementation,” but at the same time he stressed Cairo’s support for the U.S. proposal and Trump’s vision for ending the war, saying: “If political will exists the plan can be implemented, but that requires active participation from all parties.”

Meanwhile, the White House told Fox News that the plan to halt the war in Gaza “has enjoyed broad international acceptance,” noting that the Trump administration expects Hamas to accept it as a step toward a more stable and peaceful Middle East.

The White House said Trump and his team “worked tirelessly to formulate the plan,” stressing that the U.S. president “has drawn a red line in front of Hamas” and is awaiting its response as soon as possible, adding: “We hope Hamas will agree to the proposal we presented in coordination with the envoy Witkof.”
