Families of Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip expressed deep concern on Wednesday evening after an assassination attempt on movement leaders in the Qatari capital Doha, saying the Israeli operation put their sons’ lives at risk.
“The Israeli government and the prime minister are putting the lives of the prisoners at risk for political reasons, and the war has turned into media operations that cover up its failures, without making any progress in freeing the detainees,” said Ainab Tsengawker, mother of detainee Matan Tsengawker.
Tsengawker added that the families will escalate their actions in the coming days, calling on Israelis to take to the streets to end the war and bring back all the detainees under a comprehensive agreement.
Other families also spoke, including the mother of the deceased detainee Oz Daniel and the mother of detainee Nimrod Cohen, demanding an end to military operations and the immediate return of the captives.
Meanwhile, reservists participating in the march stressed the need to end the war and rescue the detainees, saying continued operations weigh on the soldiers while decision-makers do not bear the consequences.
On the international front, French President Emmanuel Macron met with relatives of four detainees, saying their case has been a priority for him since October 7 and that he will continue working to bring all the detainees back and to end the war soon.
