First day of Gaza ceasefire marred by Israeli breaches, leaving dead and wounded

The first day of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip was marked by a series of Israeli breaches, including artillery and air strikes across different areas of the enclave, resulting in deaths and injuries.

According to medical sources, 27 people were killed since dawn Thursday, including eight killed in a direct strike during the ceasefire day, while the others were retrieved from areas vacated by tanks or died of their wounds.

In Gaza City, four civilians were killed and nine others wounded, and dozens remain missing, after a strike hit the Ghabboun family home on Al-Thalathini Street. The Israeli army said the strike occurred “by mistake”. Another person was killed and another wounded when a tent on the al‑Rashid coast was shelled.

Israeli artillery also shelled eastern neighborhoods of Gaza City on Friday morning amid heavy gunfire.

In central Gaza, Israeli forces set fire to the Faculty of Medicine building of the Islamic University in the Netsarim area.

In Khan Younis in the south of the Strip, Israeli aircraft carried out a series of raids early Friday, killing nine people over 24 hours and injuring others.

According to the daily statistical report, the number of deaths in the past 24 hours rose to 11, with 49 injuries. The total toll of the Israeli offensive from 7 October 2023 to date stands at 67,194 killed and 169,890 injured, including 13,598 killed and 57,849 injured since 18 March 2025.
