Global sportswear firm Reebok demands its logo be removed from Israeli national team kit

Reebok International has asked for its logo to be removed from the Israeli national team’s apparel, after boycott threats from the BDS movement.
Hebrew Channel 12 reported on Tuesday that Reebok, whose branding appears on the Israel national football team’s official kit, asked its local representative in the country to remove the mark after calls from international organisations urging a boycott of Israel intensified.
The channel said Reebok began outfitting the Israeli team last summer, and the Israeli Football Association ran a major campaign featuring the company’s branding on the team’s kit.
In turn, the Israeli Football Association said: “There was never an agreement between the association and Reebok International, and therefore talk that the company succumbed to boycott threats is inaccurate.”
Reebok, represented in Israel by the MGS group and owned by an American‑Jewish group, only began supplying national team apparel last summer and even launched a wide‑scale campaign for the new kit designed by former player Tal Shitach. However, after the request was referred to the local representative’s office, the kit is expected to appear for the first time without the global brand’s logo.
