Gold prices in Egypt on Monday, August 18, 2025. The Gold and Precious Metals Division announced that gold prices in Egypt stabilized today, Monday, August 18, 2025, at the start of morning trading, coinciding with the return of global trading for the precious metal, with an ounce trading at $3,329.

• The price of a gram of 24-karat gold: 5,189 pounds
• The price of a gram of 21-karat gold: 4,540 pounds
• The price of a gram of 18-karat gold: 3,891 pounds
• Gold pound price: 36,320 pounds

Gold Division statements

Ihab Wassef, head of the Gold and Precious Metals Division at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, said that the division is seeking to expand its international accreditation program for companies in the sector in the coming period, most notably the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) certification.

He explained that Egypt currently boasts only one company with this certification, noting that the division is working to raise awareness of the importance of the RJC and Chain of Custody certifications, given their role in enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian gold and jewelry in global markets.

Wassef emphasized that the adoption of these certifications reflects companies' commitment to ethical sourcing standards, combating money laundering, and implementing sound environmental practices in mining, manufacturing, and refining activities, in addition to ensuring traceability of gold from its source to its final consumer.

The head of the Gold Division indicated that the next phase will witness a pivotal role for the division in supporting more Egyptian companies in passing international audit requirements and obtaining these accreditations, which will enhance the confidence of global partners and buyers in Egyptian gold.
