Israel renames war on Gaza to War of Resurgence

The Israeli government intends to vote next Sunday to change the name of the war on the Gaza Strip from “War of the Iron Swords” to “War of Resurgence”, based on a proposal from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz.

At Katz’s direction, the Israeli military has decided to establish what is known as the ”yellow line” that consumes roughly half of the Gaza Strip’s area and to warn residents not to approach it.

Under the plan, clear, continuous physical markers will be placed along this line in areas where the Israeli military is deployed inside more than 50% of the Strip, to serve as a “security-political separation line,” according to the Israeli description.

Katz said the yellow line will precisely delineate the areas of Israeli military deployment, and that any approach or crossing of this line by residents “will be met with gunfire,” a move observers say aims to impose a new on-the-ground reality in Gaza.
