Israeli army calls off daily ceasefire in Gaza City

Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

The Israeli military announced on Friday that, starting at 10:00 a.m. today, it will suspend indefinitely the daily tactical ceasefire in Gaza City – short pause periods that had allowed humanitarian aid to arrive.

An Israeli army spokesperson said: “According to the assessment of the situation and the instructions of the political leadership, and as of 10:00 a.m. today, the local tactical ceasefire will not apply to military activity in the Gaza City area, which constitutes a dangerous combat zone.” The Israeli military added that it will continue to support humanitarian efforts in the Strip while intensifying ground maneuvers and offensive operations aimed at protecting Israeli civilians.

This report aligns with coverage by The Associated Press, which reported today that the Israeli army declared Gaza City a “dangerous combat zone” and suspended the daily humanitarian pause periods that had previously been in effect to facilitate aid deliveries from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Gaza City and other designated areas.

The sudden suspension of humanitarian truces threatens to obstruct aid delivery at a time when Gaza is facing severe famine and a collapse of its infrastructure.

With the intensification of ongoing military operations, civilians’ access to essential services and life-saving relief is likely to deteriorate further.
