Israel’s military says three wounded, including a seriously injured officer, in infiltration at site near Al-Maghazi refugee camp

The Israeli military said on Thursday three of its soldiers were wounded, one of them an officer whose injuries were “serious,” during a “battle” in central Gaza.
In a statement, the army said “a combat officer from Battalion 414 of the Combat Reconnaissance Corps and Border Protection was seriously wounded during a battle in the central sector.”
It said the officer was evacuated to hospital and his family had been notified.
The army said a regular soldier and a reservist were also wounded, sustaining “light injuries” in the same incident.

The army did not provide further details, although Israel, according to numerous international reports, enforces strict military censorship on its media regarding human and material losses from strikes by “Palestinian factions,” for several reasons including preserving Israeli morale.
Hebrew media reported that a member of the Palestinian resistance infiltrated the soldiers’ fortified position and opened fire on them.
Since the start of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, 913 Israeli soldiers have been killed and 6,284 wounded, according to figures on the army’s website.

Despite the ongoing war, Palestinian factions in Gaza almost daily report killing and wounding soldiers and destroying army vehicles in operations, some of which they document with photos and videos.
