In the same tent that was soaked with the blood of Aqmar Al-Sahafa, journalist Mohammed Abd al-Majid Hassan Al-Khalidi was killed, after speaking the truth until the last frame his camera captured.

Mohammed was born at Dar Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza on August 14, 1987, the only son among his siblings to be born on Gaza’s soil. From childhood he carried the torch of words and images, believing that the truth deserves to be told no matter the cost.

He graduated from the Department of Journalism and Media at Al-Azhar University and set out determined to pursue his profession, working as a correspondent for the Islamic World Organization, an investigative journalist at the newspaper “Dunya Al-Watan”, and as a photographer and correspondent for the “Sahat” platform and other radio stations, committed to reporting his people’s suffering faithfully.

Mohammed was an ambitious man who knew no impossibilities, eloquent in Arabic and fluent in English. He belonged only to Palestine and answered only to his conscience. He was loved by everyone, dutiful to his parents, caring toward his nieces and nephews, orderly, committed to his prayers, and always seeking to do good.

His father, Haj Abd al-Majid, with tears in his eyes, says: “Praise be to God who honored us with his martyrdom… he was dutiful to us, of good character, loving of good, never missed a prayer, a loyal patriot, and he carried out his journalistic mission with unmatched devotion.”

He adds: “In his final days he did not leave the Al-Shifa complex; he was always present to convey the image and the event with precision. He dreamed of travelling to study and improve himself, but fate chose for him to depart as a martyr. We miss him greatly and ask God to join us with him in the highest paradise.”

The family says: “We bid him farewell with hearts that believe in God’s decree. Though we long for his laughter, his kind look, and his calm spirit, we ask God to accept him among the highest, to reunite us with him in the gardens of bliss, and to be an intercessor for us on the Day of Judgment.”

Journalist Ahmed Al-Khalidi wrote: “Mohammed carried out a noble mission amid a war of extermination, just as correspondents do in front of screens, but he chose to report the truth from the heart of pain, documenting people’s suffering from displacement to famine. He used his prominence on social media to tell the world stories that would not have been heard without his courage.”

The night of the assassination:

On the evening of Sunday, August 10, 2025, just four days before his 38th birthday, Mohammed was at the Al-Shifa medical complex, carrying out his duty as usual. He did not know those moments would be his last.

Suddenly, treacherous missiles struck the tent where he was working alongside his fellow journalists, sending their lives upward in a crime that shakes the human conscience.

Mohammed was killed alongside his colleagues: Anas Al-Sharif, Mohammed Qureiqah, Mohammed Nofal, Moamen Aliwah, and Ibrahim Zaher, who all became martyrs of word and image — stars that light the homeland’s sky and the memory of truth.

Mohammed Al-Khalidi was not an ordinary journalist but a living conscience fighting with words and images. He was killed in the place where he was born, leaving his name as a witness to a generation that did not abandon its cause and did not leave its post until its last breath.
