Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

Prisoners’ groups said on Wednesday that the total number of prisoners and detainees in Israeli jails has risen to more than 11,000, the majority of whom are administrative detainees and arrestees.

In a statement, they said the total number of prisoners and detainees in Israeli jails up to the beginning of September 2025 reached more than 11,100, noting that this figure does not include detainees held in camps run by the Israeli army. They said this is the highest number since the outbreak of the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000, based on documentary data available to the organizations.

The detainees classified “illegal fighters” numbered (2,662) detainees, they added, noting that this figure does not include all Gaza detainees held in camps run by the Israeli army and classified (as “illegal fighters”), and that this classification also includes Arab detainees from Lebanon and Syria.
