Netherlands plans to ban imports of goods from settlements

Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

The Netherlands said it will soon impose a ban on imports of products coming from the settlements.

During a session in the Dutch House of Representatives, the interim government’s foreign minister, David van Wil, said the ban on importing products from the settlements will be activated as soon as possible.

Van Wil also noted that the law aimed at banning trade with the settlements, demanded by the parliamentary majority, would take a long time to come into force.

He explained that the ban could be implemented more quickly using existing sanctions legislation, and that preparations had already begun to issue a “general administrative decision” in this regard.

In the Dutch legal system, a “general administrative decision” is an administrative regulation issued by the government under the law.

On Wednesday, the Netherlands barred the entry of far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich into 29 European countries, after they were placed on a list of “undesirable persons”.
