Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed his hope that “the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit will contribute to reaching a comprehensive, just and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue.”
He wrote in a post on X: “We are pleased with the positive outcomes of the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit.”
He added: “We hope the summit will serve as a launchpad for further future agreements that meet the hopes of our brothers in the Gaza Strip, and contribute to reaching a comprehensive, just and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue.”
He continued: “We look forward to all parties committing to the mutual understandings reached, for the good of all.”
The summit was held under the chairmanship of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump, with the participation of more than 20 world leaders, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The summit, titled “Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit”, aimed to “end the war in the Gaza Strip, bolster efforts to restore peace and stability in the Middle East, and open a new chapter of regional security and stability,” according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.
The summit comes after a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel came into effect at 12:00 noon on Friday, after being approved by the occupation government.
On October 9, Trump announced that Hamas and Israel had reached an agreement on the first phase of his plan for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange, following indirect negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh with the participation of Turkey, Egypt and Qatar, under U.S. supervision.
