Red Crescent: Sick prisoner due to be released today being transferred from Ofer prison

The Red Crescent Society announced that its teams entered “Ofer” prison west of the town of Beitunia, west of Ramallah, a short while ago to transfer one of the sick prisoners who is due to be released.

A short while ago, the exchange of Palestinian prisoners and Israeli detainees held in the Gaza Strip began.

Under the first phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to halt the war in the Gaza Strip and achieve peace in the Middle East, all living Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip will be released in two batches, totaling 20 people, in addition to the gradual handover of 28 bodies, according to progress made in recovering them from under the rubble of homes in the Gaza Strip.
In return, the occupation authorities will release 250 detainees from its prisons who are serving long sentences and life terms, and 1,718 detainees from the Gaza Strip who were arrested after the start of the war on October 7, 2023.
