The Spanish government has decided to join a 34-country alliance known as the “Hague Group”, led by South Africa and Colombia, aimed at imposing new economic sanctions on the Israeli occupation and ending its impunity for its massacres in the Gaza Strip.
According to Euronews, the decision came during meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, where Madrid also announced its participation in the donors’ group tasked with funding the Palestinian Authority alongside countries such as France and the United Kingdom.
The new coalition’s programme includes a range of measures, such as banning exports of equipment with military applications to Israel, preventing military shipments from transiting through its ports, terminating public contracts with institutions that support the occupation, calling for Israel to be held accountable before the International Court of Justice, and imposing an oil embargo and additional punitive measures if the occupation continues to disregard the international community.
