Spanish prime minister: We have no nuclear weapons to stop Israeli aggression against Palestine

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said his country does not have the military or economic means to stop the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip, but stressed that this is not a reason to give up trying.
Sánchez said in recorded remarks carried by the Israel Hayom newspaper that Spain “does not have nuclear bombs or aircraft carriers or large oil reserves” that could exert direct pressure on Israel, adding that there are causes worth fighting for even if complete victory is not possible unilaterally.
Over the past two years, the Spanish government has taken a series of steps against Tel Aviv described as aimed at putting pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.
Sánchez also condemned the Israeli attack on Qatar, praising its role in mediation in the Middle East and affirming his firm support for it.
As a reminder, the Spanish government decided on Tuesday to bar Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir from entering its territory.
Spain joins Britain and other Western countries that have imposed sanctions on the two ministers in recent months. The move comes as the Spanish government plans to impose a series of additional sanctions on Israel.
