On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York, U.S. President Donald Trump held an extensive meeting with leaders of several Arab and Muslim countries, during which he presented an American plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip and arrange its future status, excluding Hamas from any administrative role.
Leaders and representatives from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan participated in the meeting, where the U.S. post-war proposal was discussed.
In his opening remarks, Trump affirmed his determination to “end the war in Gaza,” describing the meeting as “the most important” at this stage and stressing that the next step would be a meeting with the Israeli leadership.
According to international news agencies including Reuters and The Jerusalem Post, the U.S. proposal included establishing new administrative mechanisms to govern Gaza after the war, away from Hamas, along with initiatives to form international peacekeeping forces and to provide substantial financial contributions for reconstruction.
Several participating leaders emphasized the need to reach a “just and humane” solution that ensures a ceasefire and achieves political stability and economic recovery in the Strip.
After the meeting, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the final statement of the Gaza summit would be published soon, describing the talks as “fruitful,” while Trump said the meeting was “very good,” confirming he would meet soon with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to continue the discussion, and added: “This is taking a long time, but we want the hostages released.”
The United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the meeting focused on ending the war in Gaza and achieving a lasting ceasefire, paving the way for the reconstruction phase.
