UNRWA: Gaza war ‘a war on children’ and must stop immediately

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said what is happening in the Gaza Strip is “a war on children,” stressing it must stop immediately.

In a statement the agency said: “Children must be protected at all times; they have a fundamental right to education and to a safe life.” It added: “In Gaza, there is a real danger that children will become a lost generation as a result of the ongoing war.”

UNRWA called for an immediate ceasefire and for children to be allowed to return to their schools, saying the continued war threatens their future and destroys their chances to learn and grow in safety.
