UNRWA says Gaza aid distribution mechanism run by mercenaries hostile to Muslims

Al-Khamisa News Network - Gaza

The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, said the current mechanism for distributing aid in the Gaza Strip is run by mercenaries, including anti-Muslim gangs that have caused the deaths of at least 2,000 Palestinians.

In a post on X, UNRWA said that at least 2,000 desperate and hungry people were killed while trying to obtain food aid, the vast majority near sites run by what is called the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.”
The agency added that “this deadly mechanism is run by mercenaries, including anti-Muslim gangs, according to the BBC (the British).”

UNRWA said that “addressing the famine in Gaza requires continuous, safe, large-scale access to those in need wherever they are.”

It reiterated that “the United Nations, including UNRWA and its partners, have the resources and expertise needed,” adding: “Let us do our work.”

Away from UN and international relief oversight, Tel Aviv on May 27 launched a mechanism to distribute aid through the “Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation,” which Palestinians call “death traps.” The entity is supported by Israel and the United States and is rejected by the UN.

The Israeli army has targeted those waiting for aid at distribution sites, leaving thousands dead and wounded.

Since March 2, Israel has closed all crossings into Gaza, preventing any food, medicine or humanitarian aid from entering, plunging the territory into famine despite aid trucks piling up at its borders.

Israel sometimes allows very limited quantities of aid to enter that do not meet the minimum needs of the starving and do not end the famine, especially as most trucks have been looted by gangs that the Gaza government says Israel protects.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with U.S. support, has been committing what the article describes as genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction and forcible displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to stop.

The Israeli campaign in Gaza has left 64,656 dead and 163,503 wounded among Palestinians, most of them children and women, with hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 404 Palestinians, including 141 children.
