Israel’s army minister Yisrael Katz revealed on Sunday, October 12, 2025, the main objective facing “Israel” after the recovery of Israeli detainees from the Gaza Strip.
Katz claimed: “The greatest challenge for (Israel) after recovering the hostages is to destroy all the tunnels in Gaza directly by the army and through the international mechanism led by the United States.”
The first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and “Israel” came into effect at 12:00 p.m. yesterday, Friday, Jerusalem time (09:00 GMT), after the Israeli government approved the agreement in the early hours of the same day.
The agreement is based on a plan put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump, which calls for a halt to the war, a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army, a reciprocal release of prisoners, the immediate entry of aid into the Strip, and the disarmament of Hamas.
Approval of its first phase came after four days of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel in the Sharm el-Sheikh resort, with the participation of Turkey, Egypt and Qatar, and under U.S. supervision.
With U.S. support, Israel has been accused of carrying out, since October 8, 2023 and over two years, a genocide in Gaza that left 67,682 dead and 170,033 wounded, most of them children and women, and a famine that claimed the lives of 463 Palestinians, including 157 children.
