Prisoners’ media: Israeli authorities carrying out ‘slow execution’ of sick prisoners at Ramla prison clinic

شبكة الخامسة للأنباء - غزة

The Prisoners’ Media Office said the Israeli occupation is holding 22 sick detainees inside the Ramla prison clinic in harsh conditions and without any real medical care, calling them “martyrs under suspended execution.”

The office said medical negligence is the second-leading cause of prisoners’ deaths in the prisons after torture, with sick detainees left prey to illness until their bodies collapse completely without effective medical intervention.

It said the Ramla prison clinic contains the most serious health cases that require urgent surgery, ongoing treatments and special diets, yet the prison administration delays transferring patients to civilian hospitals and even returns those who are transferred before treatment is completed.

The office added that prisoners in Ramla face harsh living conditions — inadequate food, deprivation of hygiene items and clothing — along with repeated raids that include violent searches and gas spraying, worsening their physical and psychological suffering.

It concluded by saying what is taking place is a crime of slow execution, calling for urgent international action to save the lives of sick prisoners, warning that international silence amounts to complicity in the crime and that continuing these policies could soon turn the list of sick prisoners into a list of martyrs.
