Systematic escalation in Israeli occupation attacks on Palestinian prisoners

The Palestinian Center for the Defense of Prisoners reported a dangerous and systematic escalation in assaults by the Israeli prison administration against Palestinian detainees, warning of continued deliberate daily violations inside the prisons.

The center said Israeli suppression units continue to raid prisoners’ wings and cells daily, carrying out brutal attacks using sticks, batons, police dogs, gas and electric shocks, under flimsy pretexts.

It noted that harsh climatic conditions are worsening the prisoners’ suffering, with temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in most prisons located in desert areas, amid severe overcrowding, poor ventilation and the absence of even the most basic elements of humane life.

It said prisoners are unable to sleep because of the intense heat, while bedding has turned into pools of sweat due to the suffocating conditions inside the cells.

The center called on rights and international organizations to *take urgent and effective action* to pressure the occupation, halt the ongoing violations, and ensure legal and humanitarian protection for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
