Two years since the genocide in Gaza.. As the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip enters its second year, the Government Media Office published a comprehensive statistical report documenting the crimes and violations committed by the occupation during (730 days) of genocide and ethnic cleansing against civilians in the besieged enclave.

More than 2.4 million people under genocide

The report confirmed that more than 2.4 million Palestinians live under the occupation’s fire and the siege, at a time when the rate of total destruction in the Strip reached about 90%, while the occupation, through fire, incursions and displacement, seized more than 80% of Gaza’s area.

It also noted that the occupation dropped more than 200,000 tons of explosives on the Strip, and targeted the al-Mawasi area — which it describes as “safe” — 136 times.

76,000 killed and missing over two years

According to official statistics, the number of killed and missing reached 76,639, including 67,139 killed who were taken to hospitals, in addition to 9,500 missing who remain under the rubble or whose fate is unknown.

Catastrophic humanitarian and health crisis

The report indicated that 169,583 people were wounded, including more than 4,800 amputations and 1,200 cases of paralysis, in addition to permanent injuries causing loss of sight.

The number of orphaned children rose to 56,348, and the number of widows reached 21,193 women who lost their husbands.

On public health, the report documented 2.1 million displaced people infected with communicable diseases, and more than 71,000 cases of viral hepatitis, amid a near-total collapse of the health system.

Systematic destruction of the health sector

  • Bombing and destruction of 38 hospitals and 96 health centers.

  • Direct targeting of 197 ambulances and 788 attacks on health facilities and personnel.

  • Destruction of 61 rescue and firefighting vehicles belonging to civil defense.

Education under fire: an entire generation out of school

The office confirmed that 95% of the Strip’s schools suffered severe material damage, and that more than 90% of school buildings require reconstruction or major rehabilitation.

  • Complete destruction of 165 educational institutions, and partial destruction of 392 others.

  • More than 13,500 students were killed and about 785,000 students were deprived of education.

  • 830 teachers and educational staff were killed, in addition to more than 193 scholars, academics and researchers.

Preliminary economic losses exceed $27 billion

The report stated that Gaza’s economic sectors have incurred massive preliminary losses, including:

  • $4 billion in losses to the industrial sector.

  • $4.5 billion to the commercial sector.

  • $2.8 billion to the agricultural sector.

  • $3 billion to the communications sector.

  • $1.4 billion to the electricity sector.

  • Along with billions more in the service, hotel, media and transport sectors.

Two years since the genocide in Gaza

The Government Media Office summarizes these statistics as a record of unprecedented war crimes and genocide, stressing that the real figures may be much higher given the ongoing assault and the difficulty of documentation amid destruction and siege.
