Operation “Al-Faris al-Shahim 3” set off today with a convoy of 21 water tankers to deliver them to the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility in the Gaza Strip, part of ongoing efforts to secure water for affected households and areas suffering acute shortages and to cover the shortfall faced by local authorities under difficult conditions.
The tankers cover the needs of around 200,000 people, carrying about 150,000 liters of water per trip, with each tanker having a capacity of 10 cubic meters. This helps close the gap and ensure delivery of desalinated water to households across different areas. The move reflects the humanitarian operation’s ongoing commitment to stand with residents and lessen the crisis’s impact on their daily lives.
Sharif al-Nayrab, media officer for Operation “Al-Faris al-Shahim 3” in Gaza, said the initiative is part of UAE relief efforts to support the enclave’s residents and alleviate their suffering from the severe damage caused by the war, noting that the UAE is making continuous efforts to ensure desalinated water reaches all areas.
Meanwhile, Omar Shatat, deputy executive director of the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility, said the tankers arrived at a timely moment given the increasing need in multiple areas. He noted that Operation “Al-Faris al-Shahim 3” has a visible role in various humanitarian activities carried out in Gaza, thanking the government and people of the UAE for their continued support to the enclave’s residents and for easing the suffering resulting from the war and the current crisis.
About a month ago, Operation “Al-Faris al-Shahim 3” inaugurated a new desalinated water pipeline running from the UAE station in Al-Arish to the al-Mawasi area in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, transporting two million gallons per day and serving hundreds of thousands of residents in the Strip.
