The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) today (01 October) facilitated the release of 13 detainees and their transfer from the Kissufim crossing point to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. The ICRC said its team facilitated their contact with their families to meet and reunite with them.
The ICRC confirmed that it remains barred from accessing detainees held by Israel.
The ICRC reiterated the need to be informed of the names of Palestinians who are arrested and to be granted access to them.
Under international humanitarian law, detainees must be treated humanely, provided with adequate detention conditions, and allowed to communicate with their families. The ICRC continues its dialogue with Israeli authorities to resume its visits to all Palestinian detainees.
